What to Bring to Camp

Return to the Members Page
What Do I Bring? An Overview.
Yourself and your friends! Next, print out the membership application. When you arrive, hand in your application with the registration fee ($25 for new and returning members).
Unless this is your first camp, Payments for dues and tour fees are due and will be accepted. A dues payment of $100 is due. A payment box will be at the check-in table for payments. It will be acceptable if you wish to mail in the payment or pay at regular rehearsal. The due date for payment is ??????. If this is your 1st Camp, an invoice can be mailed to your home.
Remember, you will not be awarded a spot in the 2010 Blue Saints if dues payments are not up to date.
We will meet with you to discuss work scheduling, fundraising and sponsorship opportunities available to everyone. Lack of finances will not be a reason to miss out being a Blue Saint.
Everyone who registers will receive a brand new 2010 Saints T-shirt! Most of all, come to camp with a great attitude and the desire to be a better musician and performer. This will be accomplished by being part of a team committed to the achievement of excellence. Camp will be various blocks of rehearsal, meetings, and a corps history and goals discussion.
Each member should bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and overnight bag with a change of clothes. Shower and personal care items should also be included. See the Blue Saints Member Handbook for details online. bluesaints.com
Brass
- Brass instrument (if you have one) and mouth piece.
- Cotton gloves, white / black (they’re cheap at www.bandshoppe.com - WalMart) We may have some available for purchase at the camp, but not enough for everyone.
- A Spare Towel, upon which you shall lay your instrument.
- DCT, Burt’s Bees Wax, or Chap stick to protect your lips. Don’t use anything with camphor in it!
Percussion
- Drum line: If you can, bring sticks and a drum, with harness and stand.
- Pit: Bring whatever mallets you’re comfortable with!
- If you have a drum pad, please bring it. There may be noise ordinances at night, and we all know how detrimental those can be to the mental health of our drummers.
I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Saints Percussion Program for the 2009 season. If you are receiving this email that means that you have shown some interest in becoming a member of the Blue Saints Drum and Bugle Corps. We do have a few areas of business that we need to address in order to prepare for the upcoming open house camps. This year will prove to be an exciting one as we continue on with the success that the percussion section had last season. We also have brought some new faces on board to the staff whose experiences and enthusiasm will take us to the next level of performance. The percussion staff is very excited to get this season started and we hope you are too.
The first order of business is to let you know that the Saints percussion staff have put together a packet that we expect you to download and look at before the camp. We've worked hard putting this together so that you can have a reference and a guide while you prepare for the Saints percussion program. Here is a link to the guide: Rehearsal Material
This year's packet isn't as lengthy as previous years, but will give you a good start as to the exercises and our expectations for being in the line. Please download this packet and look over the exercises so you can be prepared to rehearse with the line. Next, you may have questions on what to bring for the camp. I'm providing a short list of items that I would expect you to have in order to have best possible experience.
Band-Aids, trust me on this one! Drumsticks, marching sticks for battery, concert sticks for pit Tenor Mallets, Tenors only Practice Pad, Everybody! Set of 4 Marimba Mallets, pit only !!!
